BAPAM – Performing Arts Medicine

Sony Music UK and BAPAM

Healthcare support for Sony Music UK artists

Through Sony Music’s global Artist Forward initiativeSony Music UK is working together with BAPAM to expand the physical health support available to on-roster artists across Sony Music UK labels.

About BAPAM

BAPAM is the medical charity for the performing arts.

Established in 1984, BAPAM (the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine) supports artists, performers and professionals with work-related health concerns, including musculoskeletal and vocal health. BAPAM’s clinicians combine clinical excellence with performing-arts expertise, delivering realistic, actionable recommendations tailored to creative careers.

How BAPAM can help you

Through BAPAM, you can access free, specialist clinical assessments by sector-experienced clinicians. We also provide advice and education to help you stay healthy by sharing knowledge about health risks and how to mitigate them through healthy practice.

We recommend that if you have a health problem, you seek help at an early stage.

Free, expert clinical assessment

BAPAM supports on-roster Sony Music UK artists with physical health concerns that impact creative work, including voice problems. BAPAM clinicians have a deep understanding of artists’ health needs, and will work with you to explore how your symptoms affect you, and give advice on how to overcome problems quickly and safely.

You can call or email our team on 020 8167 4775 / info@bapam.org.uk, 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. Please let the team know that you are a Sony Music UK artist when you contact us.

We will take some details and book you a consultation with one of our performing arts clinicians to discuss the problem and get advice on next steps. In some cases we may also be able to provide physical therapy and, where appropriate, arrange referrals for diagnostics and vocal health support.

We cannot provide an emergency service, so if you require any emergency help, please contact the NHS in the usual way, via your GP surgery or 111, or in an emergency via A&E or calling 999.

Your BAPAM consultation is confidential and you will receive a letter or report after the session to summarise the advice.

We will highlight trends in physical health using anonymous data to help Sony Music UK target prevention where it’s needed most.

Preventing physical health problems

BAPAM and Sony Music UK will be running a series of healthy practice workshops so you can find out more about typical risks, how to manage them and what to do if things go wrong.

Our range of online resources is grounded in research, evidence and best practice to address common performance risks. Find practical advice now on:
