Biography

I'm a counsellor and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). Before training as a therapist I spent over twenty years working as a musician, composer and sound artist, performing on stage, touring internationally and teaching in music and arts education. I hold a PhD in Music and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling.

This background means I understand performing life from the inside: the pressure to keep delivering, confidence that rises and falls with how the work is received, the financial uncertainty of freelance life, and the hierarchies and power imbalances in the industry. I also work with performers coping with an injury or physical difficulty affecting their ability to work. You won't need to explain your world to me. We can get straight to what matters.

My approach is warm and collaborative. I adapt how I work to what you need, giving you space to feel properly heard while also helping you understand how past experiences might be shaping what's happening now. I pay attention to how things feel in the body, to images, dreams and metaphor as well as words, which can help when things are hard to put into language. I also work with anxiety, low mood, burnout, trauma, grief, life changes, relationship difficulties and creative blocks. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent adults.

Sessions are 50 minutes, in person in London or online. I offer a free 20-minute introductory call so we can see whether we're a good fit.
