Dr Kay Capaldi is a psychotherapist, educator, and researcher with over 20 years of clinical experience. She completed both her MSc and PhD in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Strathclyde. Her doctoral research focused on the self-relationship and negative self-treatment in social anxiety—an area she continues to explore in both clinical and academic contexts.
Kay is experienced in working with those in the performing arts, especially artists, musicians, actors and creatives. She helps clients build emotional resilience, manage stress, and navigate the psychological demands of high-performance, public-facing professions. Kay supports clients with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, performance-related stress, trauma, low self-esteem, chronic illness, addiction, bereavement, life transitions, self-harm, and relationship difficulties.
Kay is also a Senior Lecturer in Therapeutic Psychology, Counselling, and Mental Health. She draws on a strong foundation in embodied holistic practices, integrating her therapeutic work with her experience as a practitioner of Holistic Therapy, Zen Shiatsu, Usui Reiki, and Firewalking & Empowerment Instruction. Her experiential and evidence-based approach supports personal growth, emotional resilience, and wellbeing through individual and group sessions, workshops, and retreats.
