Dr Berenice Beverley Zammit is a Performance Expert, Performance Coach and Chartered Psychologist whose work focuses on how high-level performance holds under scrutiny.
With a PhD in performance optimisation and an active career as a professional violinist, Berenice works at the intersection of research and artistic practice, examining what changes psychologically and physiologically in elite performers when demand increases.
Berenice coaches musicians and performing artists, as well as athletes and other high-stakes professionals, who are technically prepared yet experience instability under pressure, such as perceptual narrowing, conscious motor over-control, muscular tightening and memory lapses.
Berenice's coaching is evidence-based. It addresses the regulatory shifts that occur before and during performance, translating research from psychology, physiology, biomechanics and nutrition into tailored training programmes that performers can apply directly in practice and on stage.
As a consultant and coach, Berenice collaborates with performing arts and sport institutions including the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), One Dance UK, and the Malta Olympic Committee (MOC), delivering research-informed programmes on performance preparation, regulation, physical health and wellbeing, and sustainable excellence.
Berenice's work also extends to orchestras and ensembles, where she supports collective coordination, rehearsal design and stability under performance conditions.
Berenice lectures in Performance Science, Dance Science, Performance Psychology, and Health & Wellbeing in the Performing Arts. Her research has been presented internationally at various academic conferences including ISPS (Warsaw, Montreal, Melbourne).
Alongside her coaching and consultancy, Berenice maintains an active performing career with orchestras in the UK and Italy, and as a member of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
She is an Associate of the Royal College of Music and writes for The Strad.
Berenice conducts performance coaching in English and Italian.
