Claire Hope is a music therapist, psychodynamic psychotherapist, and musician. She has worked with creative professionals experiencing difficulties including: performance anxiety, trauma, stress, depression, including post-natal depression, relationship difficulties, communication disorders, bereavement fertility issues/miscarriage, low self-esteem.
Claire can help performers prepare for auditions, introduce techniques to 'free up' musicians having difficulty improvising and work with breathing techniques.
Claire is very experienced in working with young adults, adults, adolescents, and children, with a wide range of needs including neurodiversity, attachment difficulties, anxiety, depression, and trauma. She has worked in a variety of contexts including a music therapy clinic, universities, hospitals, Centrepoint, schools, children centres, and private practice. She offers an empathic non-judgmental space for people to talk freely, allowing for unconscious thoughts and feelings to emerge. This psychodynamic approach can develop a person’s capacity to understand and make sense of their difficulties, leading to emotional growth and resilience.
Music therapy can involve using improvised music (with voice/musical instruments) or words, to develop a therapeutic relationship. Claire can offer an integrated approach using psychodynamic thinking/talking along with music therapy or can focus on psychodynamic therapy without engaging in music. This can be explored during an initial assessment session.
