Maintaining professional boundaries in any small community may be difficult and the performing arts is no exception.
For this Performing Arts Medicine CPD session, we invite you to join us for a structured discussion around professional boundaries in physical and psychosocial health care, drawing on case studies from BAPAM’s clinical services and our client and patient feedback.
We’ve arranged this session based on feedback from both our practitioner community and artist patients, and it’s designed to help ensure patient safety and protect practitioners. We hope you’ll join us for this important discussion.
Facilitated by two experienced BAPAM clinicians, this CPD will look at some of the limits in the clinician/patient relationship.Discussion points will include:
- Patient centered care
- Over identifying or over familiarisation
- The risks associated with working in a niche industry
- Communication style and consent
- Backgrounds
- Confidentiality

BAPAM’s expert-led training events are ideal for healthcare and education practitioners working in the performing arts who wish to deepen their understanding and enhance their skills. We explore research, evidence and practice to treat and prevent common and complex health problems specific to artists, creators and performance professionals. We share knowledge and invite discussion on key topics in current performing arts medicine practice. Our approach is multidisciplinary: physiological and psychological care for healthy and sustainable creative practice.
Online sessions are held on the last Wednesday of the month from 7pm BST. Most sessions are recorded for ticket holders who cannot attend on the day (please check the event description).
