Healthy Practice Community Drop In: Peer support and training for performance health and wellbeing

BAPAM empower performance professionals to improve and maintain health.

We are a specialist charity providing innovative training, creative community support, and high quality career-specific medical expertise.

Knowing what you should do to keep healthy is one thing, adopting healthy practice as routine in your life is another. Human beings are incredibly efficient and the way that we learn to do things is always to follow the path of least resistance, so it can be challenging to create new habits and behaviours.

Join our free weekly online community drop in and:

  • Embed health and wellbeing strategies into your creative toolkit
  • Learn new skills with guest coaches and speakers
  • Set goals
  • Take part in peer discussion and support in a safe space facilitated by an experienced BAPAM clinician

Our Community Drop-In is a weekly series of events. Check our events page, sign up to our Newsletter, or follow us on Eventbrite for more information.

February 16th: Community Drop in with Dr Pippa Wheble (BAPAM GP) – healthy practice peer discussion and support session.

February 23rd: Guest Coach: Melissa James – Mind, Body and Song

Melissa James is a Singer `who uses the gift of her voice, and her writing of songs, for personal and collective healing. She is the Founder of the charitable mental health and Big Sing initiative SING4SANE. This project was spearheaded by Melissa’s song Live Again after she decided to organise a pop-up Big Sing in which she invited members of the public to sing this song alongside her at Caffe Nero in Heathrow in February 2016. Subsequently, further invitees joined her in creating a Big Sing recording of Live Again at RAK Studios. This work has furthered Melissa’s belief that music is a powerful tool for healing and connection with others.

March 2nd: Guest Coach Nicky Torode – Writing for Wellbeing – Nourishing Ourselves

This session introduces the practice of journaling for wellbeing through the exploration of the theme Nourishing Ourselves. Through several short, simple writing exercises and prompts which include an image and a poem, participants will be invited to write and, if willing, to share their words.

Nicky will also share tips for starting and keeping up a journal during these difficult times.

You don’t need to be a writer to participate. Just a curiosity about yourself and your wellbeing.

Nicky Torode runs creative writing for wellbeing courses for adult learning centres and runs her own journaling groups offline and online. She has an MSc in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes, is a qualified and experienced coach and education materials writer.

March 9th: Closing session with Dr Pippa Wheble (BAPAM GP)
