Focal dystonia is not all in the mind ...
... but it is all in the brain. This is a painless but debilitating condition that affects some instrumentalists. It means that the messages from the fingers to the brain get scrambled somewhere along the line and an uncontrollable spasm is the result. Fortunately this is a very rare condition but if you have any anxieties about symptoms affecting your playing, don't ignore them.
