If you are diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome you will not necessarily have to have an operation.

In some (rare) cases an operation performed by a surgeon who is experienced at working with instrumentalists is the only solution. But almost always there are non-surgical treatments such as physiotherapy and hand therapy, that can ease the symptoms, and practitioners and teachers can show you how to play in a way that doesn't make the problem worse.
