Once your hearing has been damaged by over-exposure there is nothing you can do about it.
You only get one chance with your ears. Fortunately only a small proportion of the population is susceptible to hearing loss and those working with amplified music are much more at risk than orchestral musicians. However, there is a lot you can do to protect yourself from over-exposure to noise. Special ear plugs can cut out the damaging noise. Professional and student musicians can get a reduced-price hearing test through BAPAM's audiologists.
